The Champions League group stage kicks off with a fascinating David vs. Goliath encounter as Sabah FA host Borussia Dortmund on September 8th, 2026. Sabah, with a modest 50% win rate and a recent record of two wins and two losses from their last four outings, will be looking to make a statement against one of Europe's giants. Their defensive solidity, having conceded only four goals in their last four, could be a key factor if they are to frustrate Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund, boasting a formidable 63% win rate across their season and 65 goals scored, arrive as heavy favorites despite a slightly wobbling recent form of two wins and three losses in their last five. The German side's attacking prowess will undoubtedly test Sabah's backline. The key narrative here is whether Sabah can harness home advantage and disciplined defending to spring a monumental upset, or if Dortmund's superior quality and attacking firepower will ultimately prevail. Watch for Dortmund's early press and Sabah's counter-attacking opportunities as they look to exploit any defensive lapses.
