Slovenia host FYR Macedonia in a pivotal UEFA Nations League clash on September 29, 2026, with both sides eager to establish their credentials. Slovenia enter with a mixed bag of results, having secured one win and one loss in their opening two matches, scoring and conceding three goals apiece. Their 50% win rate reflects an inconsistent start.
In contrast, FYR Macedonia have only played one game, a draw where they failed to find the net but also kept a clean sheet. This suggests a more cautious approach, and their 0% win rate, albeit from limited data, points to a team still finding its rhythm. Recent head-to-head encounters have been tight affairs, with two draws and one narrow win for FYR Macedonia, indicating little to separate these Balkan rivals.
The bookmakers favour a home win at 1.69, but the win probabilities tell a different story, with a draw and an away win both rated at 45%, leaving Slovenia with just a 10% chance despite the odds. This intriguing discrepancy suggests potential value away from the favourite. Under 2.5 goals at 1.63 looks like a strong bet given FYR Macedonia's defensive start and the tight history between the teams. Slovenia will look to capitalise on home advantage, while FYR Macedonia will aim to frustrate and potentially snatch a result on the counter. Expect a cagey affair where defensive discipline could be key.
