Premier League: Aston Villa vs Brentford 10/10/2026
Aston Villa could build on their victory over Tottenham and the additional time to improve their team chemistry, continuing their upward trajectory and taking advantage of Brentford’s weaknesses away from home to secure a positive result.

After a long, three-week international break, club football is finally back. Aston Villa face a difficult task at home against one of the few teams still unbeaten in the Premier League: Brentford. When long-serving key players Watkins, Rogers, and Martinez left the club during the summer transfer window, it was clear that Unai Emery faced a challenging process of integrating new players into his system.
Villa, much like last season, made a very poor start to their Premier League campaign. After four matches, they had collected just one point and scored only one goal. However, there were signs of better days ahead with an away victory over Tottenham, where new signings Mazambi and Jackson particularly impressed.
Emery has now had some much-needed time to work with the squad, and I expect Aston Villa to improve as the season progresses. The Spanish manager left nothing to chance, using the international break to arrange a friendly against his former club Sevilla, which also allowed him to give playing time to players who had seen limited action since the start of the season.
Brentford have so far proven to be a very strong and difficult team to face, but there is a noticeable difference between their performances at home and away. I believe Aston Villa could deliver a strong performance on Saturday, take advantage of their home-ground advantage, and potentially inflict Brentford’s first league defeat of the season.
