Rijeka are undoubtedly the stronger side on paper, but I believe the market has overrated the hosts. At this stage of the season, they should not be trading at odds below 1.15. In any case, this is a disciplined and well-organised team that relies far more on tactical structure than on overwhelming attacking quality.

That was evident in their previous tie against Derry. Despite being heavy favourites at home, they managed only a 1-0 victory. They repeated the same scoreline in the second leg to secure qualification, once again highlighting their pragmatic approach.

Ilves come into this match with the advantage of full match fitness, as the Finnish league is currently in full swing. Their game plan is expected to revolve around a compact defensive setup, aiming to frustrate Rijeka and keep the tie alive ahead of the return leg in Finland.
