EuroLeague: Zalgiris vs ASVEL 23/10/2026
With Williams-Goss sidelined, Saben Lee should take on a bigger role in Žalgiris’ offence, and ASVEL’s fast pace of play could allow him to rack up more points through his ability to get to the rim and his athleticism.

Before the season, Žalgiris were rightly considered one of the candidates for a playoff spot, and even a potential Final Four, but things at the start of the season haven’t worked out the way the club had hoped. The team’s most important player, Nigel Williams-Goss, is struggling with injuries, Jonas Valančiūnas has yet to establish the expected dominance in the paint since returning from the NBA, Sterling Brown hasn’t been able to carry over his Partizan form, while Maodo Lo is unrecognisable and completely out of form.
Saben Lee was brought in as extra security in the backcourt, but will now, out of necessity, have to take on a bigger role in the absence of Williams-Goss, who aggravated his injury after returning to the court too early. Lee himself started the season injured, but he has come back at a very important moment for the team. Over the previous three EuroLeague games he has had solid playing time of around 18 minutes per game, but he hasn’t stood out as a scorer, finishing two of those games with 4 and 5 points respectively.
It’s precisely because of those numbers that his line tonight is fairly low, but I believe there’s good value in expecting a more productive performance from him. Lee isn’t a particularly reliable shooter, but ASVEL are a team that plays at a high tempo, with a lot of running and transition play. That style should suit him, as he can use his ability to get to the rim and his athleticism to attack the basket and pick up easier points.
