Everton are a coach driven team. Moyes, who returned midway through last season, transformed them and this year, having worked from the start, has them on track for a European spot. Tough, serious, with increased quality compared to previous years, they are built for difficult matches and this is evident both from their performances against top teams and their away results.
They have three wins in their last five matches (including a 3-0 against Chelsea and a 3-2 away win at Newcastle) while their only loss came away to Arsenal.
Liverpool’s season has been disappointing, and midweek they were also eliminated from the Champions League. However, in the home match against Paris they left a good impression. They played with high intensity, were better for most of the game but eventually lost 2-0 and also lost Ekitike to a serious injury.
The atmosphere in the team is not good at all. Salah is marginalized, out of form and with his mind on the summer, and the goal of qualifying for the next Champions League does not seem enough to unite them. Recently they are not getting results even on their good nights, and this has led to four losses (and eliminations from the Cup and Champions League) in their last five matches.
The two teams are only five points apart in the standings, with Everton being fresher and in clearly better psychological condition. The bookmakers favor Liverpool, leaving room for a play on the home side.
