Ferencváros take a one-goal advantage into the second leg, but a much-improved performance is expected from Twente, who, despite their lack of competitive match fitness, have the quality to win in Budapest and progress to the next round.

The second leg of the Europa League second qualifying round sees Ferencváros defend the 2-1 advantage they earned in the Netherlands a week ago.

The first meeting was largely dominated by the Dutch side. Twente enjoyed more possession, controlled the tempo, and created several good chances, but failed to convert their superiority into a positive result. Ferencváros, on the other hand, produced a disciplined and patient performance, waiting for opportunities to strike on the counter. That approach paid off thanks to Lenny Joseph, whose two goals secured an important first-leg victory for the Hungarian champions.

With the new Eredivisie season yet to begin, Twente used the break between the two legs to play a friendly against Emmen in order to maintain match sharpness. The lack of competitive fixtures is one of the biggest challenges for the Dutch side at this stage of the campaign, but their overall quality is beyond question. This is a team expected to challenge near the top of the Eredivisie once again and one that has enough experience to cope with this situation.

Ferencváros will look to protect their advantage in front of their home supporters, but I expect Twente to deliver a far more convincing display than they did in the first leg. If they are more clinical in front of goal and make the most of the chances they create, I believe they have the quality to win in Budapest and keep their hopes of reaching the next qualifying round alive.
