On the negative side, Betis +0.5 looks like value since Villarreal haven’t shown enough consistency to justify being such strong favourites.

There are times you think about a bet, but pass on it because of the price. And when it reaches the number you want, you take it. I just can’t look at Villarreal as favourites under 2.00 against Betis. “Come on, man, Betis got smashed at Levante,” someone will say. And the answer to that is: “Sure, and Villarreal shipped a hat-trick at home from hundred-year-old Aubameyang.”

Villarreal’s transition from Marcelino to Íñigo Pérez isn’t easy. And it won’t be easy. Their roster isn’t bad, but they’ve got some terrible players at the back, and with the Champions League hanging over them, I think they’re in for a tough road until January. Betis under Pellegrini are capable of beating Real 1-0 and then losing 5-2 to Levante. Their squad is obviously better overall, but so is the range of their inconsistency.

I had no intention of getting involved on a Monday, but the damn odds won’t let me… sleep.

I’ve gone with Betis +0.5 @ 1.90 (Novibet). I don’t think it’s right that one Villarreal result (a win) is priced the same as two Betis results (a draw, a win). Why? I hope I don’t see the “because” too, tonight.
