Milutinov could once again dominate the paint and be a key factor in another Olympiacos victory against Monaco’s physically inferior frontcourt.

The second game of the EuroLeague quarterfinal series is on the schedule, with Olympiacos having a chance to take another step toward the Final Four after a convincing 91–70 win in the first matchup.
An even contest was seen only during the first quarter of Game 1, while the rest of the game was marked by the complete dominance of the team from Piraeus. By halftime, the home side had already built a solid lead, and in the second half, they kept increasing the margin minute by minute, reaching a maximum advantage of +24 at one point.
One of the key factors in that victory was Nikola Milutinov, a member of the competition’s All-EuroLeague First Team, who finished the game with a double-double performance (13 points and 10 rebounds). The Serbian center completely controlled the paint, standing out in particular with as many as 7 offensive rebounds, causing major problems for the opponent’s defense.
Monaco’s frontcourt, led by Kevarrius Hayes and Daniel Theis, quickly got into foul trouble, which forced the visiting coach to use smaller lineups. In such a matchup, it was evident they could not physically match Milutinov, who fully exploited his advantage in strength and positioning.
Although he played a standard 22 minutes in the first game, his playing time is expected to increase as the series progresses, if needed. Interestingly, Tyrique Jones did not get any minutes, which clearly indicates that coach Georgios Bartzokas is relying on a rotation featuring Milutinov and Donte Hall in this series, without much experimentation.
All signs point to Milutinov having another key role in Game 2 — with potentially increased minutes and a strong impact on both ends of the floor, there is a high probability that he will once again establish dominance in the paint against an opponent that lacks an adequate physical answer to his style of play.
