Sevilla have looked sharper than Valencia, who keep struggling and travel with some serious absences. Home advantage and current form both tilt this toward Sevilla, with the Asian handicap -0.25 at 1.78 as the pick.

Betting with the Asian handicap

On Fridays I avoid betting like the devil avoids holy water. Like a penguin avoids the heat. Or like I avoid doctors, blood especially. None of that’s relevant, but let’s move on. I’ve got two footballing disasters in front of me, to put it politely: Sevilla, Valencia.

One of them has seven points by mistake, the other has one by an even bigger mistake. Honestly, Valencia should be on -10, given they’ve been at war with logic, seriousness, football and even the rulebook for years now. Moving on.

At Sevilla, Luis García Plaza is working with a limited but not exactly miserable (for Sevilla’s standards) squad, trying to get them playing some football, and oddly enough he’s half pulling it off. At Valencia, hapless boss Carlos Corberán is fighting for something, though I couldn’t tell you what exactly. Definitely not football. He’s also got a truckload of absences (the usual Diakhaby headlines) and heads to Sevilla hoping only on the decent results Valencia have picked up there recently.

Disaster versus disgrace (footballing ones, obviously), I’ll always back whichever one isn’t… Valencia.

I’ve gone with Sevilla -0.25 @ 1.78, clearly betting against Valencia and not because I’m a Sevilla fan. Right call? We’ll find out tonight.
