Mexico are a disciplined and well-organized team, fully capable of securing first place in their group. Their opponents are not particularly intimidating. South Africa appear relatively weak, lacking star names and having only two players competing in Europe. The Czech Republic delivered average performances during the qualifiers, have 17 players coming from their domestic league, and will have to play two matches on Mexican soil after long flights while also dealing with high-altitude conditions. South Korea, arguably the strongest of the three opponents, have not produced any major results recently, while Son is now 34 years old.

Mexico hold a 6-2-0 record in their 2026 friendlies, with the two draws coming against Portugal and Belgium. In their most recent match, they defeated Serbia 5-1, while across those eight games they conceded only two goals in total. An enormous advantage is that they will play all three group matches at home and under high-altitude conditions—two in Mexico City at 2,240 meters above sea level and one in Zapopan at 1,571 meters. Their opponents are expected to struggle with those conditions as well.

Mexico have ambitions of making a deep run in the tournament and are capable of causing problems even in the knockout stage. Winning the group would also provide them with a favorable path in the later rounds, and at odds around 2.00, it represents one of the most attractive outright betting options in the competition.
