The Puskás Aréna is set to host a fascinating UEFA Nations League opener as Hungary welcome Georgia on October 2, 2026. With both sides kicking off their campaigns, this fixture offers an early glimpse into their aspirations and current strengths. Given the nascent stage of the season, form guides are non-existent, making predictions challenging but the tactical battle all the more intriguing.
Hungary, playing on home soil, will undoubtedly seek to assert dominance from the first whistle. Their passionate support will expect a strong start, and manager Marco Rossi will be keen to lay down a marker in the group. For Georgia, this trip represents an opportunity to demonstrate their progress on the international stage. They will likely adopt a cautious yet disciplined approach, aiming to frustrate the hosts and exploit any counter-attacking opportunities. The key narrative revolves around which team can settle quickest and impose their style. Watch for the midfield battle, as control of possession will be crucial in unlocking defenses. An early goal could prove decisive in what promises to be a tightly contested affair.
