When you think of Nigeria, what comes to mind before anything else? If poverty is one of them, you’re living in the past, friend. Nigeria is currently the strongest economy in all of Africa, surpassing South Africa by a fair margin. So, it’s only normal for the people in Nigeria to participate in real money betting.
Following the economic boom of the country in the last few years, a lot of offshore bookmakers have penetrated the market. A study done in 2020 shows that more than 60 million Nigerians are active gamblers and they’re aged between 18 and 40. The country even regulates betting on a national level. You can find betting shops on almost all major streets around the country.
But the purpose of this post is not to praise the gambling paradigm in Nigeria. Rather, we plan to review Parimatch in the country. Parimatch is a reputed offshore gambling site that not only accepts players from the country but also boasts a local license from the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.
The license is granted to P-Match Nigeria Limited, a local company franchising the brand. The company is also a member of Nigerian Bookmakers.
This is our Parimatch Nigeria review where we’re going to cover all the sports betting as well as other gambling components. We’re also going to dissect the bonuses Nigerian punters can get, the payment methods they can use, the customer support features they can enjoy and plenty of other aspects. Let’s go.
The reason you sign up for an online betting site is obviously to bet on sports events. Sports betting is extremely popular in Nigeria and it has been this way even before the days of online gambling. As we already stated, there are plenty of physical betting shops sprinkled all over the cities.
In a jurisdiction like this, you’d expect an online bookmaker’s website to be brimming with lots of sports. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with Parimatch Nigeria. It offers bets on very few sorts, four to be exact. These four options are Football, Tennis, Basketball, and eSports.
Now, it’s not as bad as you think. Football is extremely popular in Nigeria. So much so that the majority of partners are always betting on football alone. The physical betting shops also offer markets for football matches.
The next more popular sport in the country is tennis, believe it or not. And then, you get markets for basketball and esports. Esports betting is yet to pick up the pace in the country. Parimatch is a pioneer in this regard.
While the sports options are limited, the number of events is not. As most of the punters are targeting football matches from all over the world anyways, there are hundreds of events active on the platform at any given moment.
The page you land on by default at Parimatch Nigeria is the sports betting page. On the left-hand side of that page, Parimatch lists all of the popular events. It’s a mix of country names as well as leagues. While it’s not very intuitive, this is what Parimatch has been doing on all of its other domains too.
At the time of writing this review, the options we can choose from are National Teams, UEFA Champions Leagues, UEFA Europa Conference League, England, Germany, Ireland, Egypt, Argentina, Brazil, and the USA.
As you click on each of the listings, you’ll come across further options. The “National Teams” section obviously contains markets for international friendlies between the national football teams. UEFA needs no introduction to football fans.
Then for the individual countries, you get further sorting options based on the leagues. Each country has a different set of leagues and they rotate throughout the year. So, there’s no point in the active tournaments at the time of writing before it might change when you sign up on Parimatch Nigeria.
One of the good features of Parimatch is that it’s not only an online bookmaker but also an online casino. Nigerians are not as big of a fan of casinos as they are of sportsbooks. But there’s surely a group of gamblers who love casino games.
Parimatch offers close to 3,000 slots and over 120 live dealer games for that group! Even some of the world’s most popular online casinos don’t offer that many games! All of the titles come from Playson, 5MenGamess, Fugaso, NetGame, Play’n Go, Nolimit City, Spribe, RubyPlay, OnlyPlay, Betsoft, Inbet, BGaming, Mancala, MrSlotty, PariPaly, Belatra, Hacksaw, etc. providers.
The slots section contains game titles including The Dog House, Royal Match, Golden Lemon Deluxe, Wild Heroes, Fruits, Solar Queen, Stack’em, Kensei Blades, Book of Cairo, Wolf Power Megaways, Joker’s Coins: Hold and Win, Pyramids, A Night in Paris, Mr. Vegas, Wild Trigger, and thousands of others.
The slots section has an amazing blend of 3-reel classic slots, 5-reel video slots, 6-reel Megaways, Clusterpays, etc. games. If you’re bored of betting or if there are not enough markets to satisfy your needs at any given moment, you can spend time with the games.
As for the live dealer games, you can choose between various Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Poker, etc. games. Most of these games are supplied by Ezugi and LuckyStreak. Both of these companies are very well-known for their immersive and optimized live casino portals.
Similar to other Parimatch domains, the Nigerian doesn’t have a dedicated esports portal as well. However, we’re going to create a separate section because esports betting deserves its own, don’t you think?
Esports is one of the four options Nigerian punters can bet on. To find your options, you simply have to click on “E-Sports” from the main sportsbook page. The unfortunate thing is that the number of events is quite limited when compared to Parimatch’s other jurisdictions. At the time of writing, the available games were Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 only.
On the bright side, the collection updates all the time based on what the ongoing tournaments are. We think the developers didn’t want to take up space on the server for games and events that are not active.
At the end of the day, the markets matter the most for an online bookmaker. It’s because the more markets there are, the more versatile your betting options become. As football is predominantly the most popular choice among Nigerian bettors, let’s go over some of the football markets you can expect to find throughout the year.
When you’re on the football tab on the Parimatch NG website, this is the market you’re going to see. For each individual listing, you get odds for 1, x, and 2. Just in case you don’t know, “1” refers to the home team in a match, “2” refers to the away team, and “x” is the draw.
So, in a match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast being held in Nigeria, the odds for “1” refers to Nigeria’s likelihood of winning. You get the idea for the other 2 outcomes, right?
To find the double chance market, you’ll need to click or tap on a match first. “Double Chance” is very similar to usual 1×2 bets but it includes two possibilities at once to give you a “double chance” to win. In Parimatch Nigeria, you get markets for 1x, 12, and x2.
“1x” means you’ll win if either the home team wins or it’s a draw. “12” means you win the bet matter what team wins the game. Last but not least, “x2” means you can win the bet if either the away wins or it’s a draw.
More commonly known as over/under, this football bet lets you predict against Parimatch’s prediction for the total score for a football match. You get individual odds for “over” and “under”. The odds are offered for values like 2, 2.5, 3, etc. These values indicate the total number of goals in the match. You place your wager on “over” or “under” which simply means you think the actual score in the match will be over or under the predicted score.
On the main sports betting page on Parimatch Nigeria, you get 2 main tabs on the top section of the site. One is “Upcoming” and the other one is “Live Events”. So, it’s obvious that all of the live matches you can bet on are listed in that section of the site.
All four types of sports that you can bet on are qualified for live betting on Parimatch NG. You can sort between Football, Tennis, Basketball, and E-Sports just like you could with the pre-match bets.
Right under the sorting menu, you have the complete list of live matches along with live scores. You also get the exact same markets for live betting as you do with pre-match betting.
Unfortunately, none of the offered live matches come with a live stream. So, your best bet is to watch the match somewhere else when you’re placing bets on a football or tennis match.
The only bonus at the time of writing for Nigerian punters is the welcome bonus. From what we’ve seen, it’s the only bonus that matters to most punters. So, how generous is Parimatch Nigeria betting bonus?
Well, you can win a massive 120% match on your first deposit up to NGN 120,000! Is that big enough for you? The minimum deposit starts at only NGN 100 to qualify for this promotion. Also, you need to check the box that says “I want the bonus” when you register on the website for the first time.
If everything goes smoothly, you should receive the 120% match bonus funds in your account right away. To withdraw it, you’ll need to wager the bonus 10 times on multi-bets at a minimum of 3.00 odds.
Make sure you read the T&C carefully before you sign up because the section is subject to change based on company policy.
One of the things we liked the most about Parimatch NG is the website optimization. It’s far better than the Global website. Thankfully, the same is true for the mobile site. It’s infused with HTML5 which means you can use any of your mobile devices to log in to your Parimatch account.
If you’re looking for a mobile app for download, there are none for Nigerian punters. Usually, we’d consider it a drawback. But after we used the mobile site for an extended time, we have to accept that you don’t need the app to enjoy Parimatch Nigeria’s all features properly.
As Parimatch Nigeria has its own domain and a completely catered betting section for the Nigerian punters, we had high hopes for the real money payment methods. And the operator has delivered.
While the payment methods library is not very fancy, it’s very effective. You can use OPay, Paystack, and FlutterWave. The minimum deposit requirement is NGN 100 and you can do it any time and from anywhere in the country you want.
As for withdrawals, the minimum requirement isn’t stated in the T&C section. It depends on the payment method you choose. So, take a look into Opay and Paystack account levels to know exactly how little you can withdraw.
As for the maximum withdrawal, you can go up to NGN 50,000 without verifying your account. It’s something we never recommend. You should verify your account as soon as you can using your National ID, passport, and all the other necessary documents.
Withdrawal processing at Nigerian Parimatch takes up to 24 hours. If you can’t see the money in your e-wallet account even after 24 hours, you should contact customer support.
On the footer section of the website, click on “Contact Us” to find the customer support channels. At the time of writing, Parimatch Nigeria doesn’t offer live chat which is a bit shocking, to be honest.
You can call the operator at +234 700 123 7274. Or, you can save +234 912 431 8472 in your contacts and What’s App the support agents. You can also use Telegram to send messages to the channel @parimatchbot.
